In 2023, 96 journalists worldwide had to pay for their work with their lives. In Gaza alone, 78 reporters and collaborators were killed. But journalists are not only at risk during war; they increasingly face physical violence, digital attacks, state terrorism and threats from the underworld.
We follow French journalist Laurent Richard, who founded the collective Forbidden Stories. Forbidden Stories aims to safeguard stories from journalists worldwide who operate under threatening circumstances. Their message is harsh but clear: you can kill the journalist, but you can't kill the story.
